Big Turnout! 238 Athletes Join Gojukai Karate-Do Kejurda Piala Kejari Batang
Batang Kartininews.com – The Batang Regency Gojukai held the Central Java Gojukai Karate-Do Regional Championship (Kejurda) for the Kejaksaan Negeri Batang Cup at the GOR Indoor Abirawa Batang, Batang Regency, on Saturday (6/6/2026). The championship was attended by hundreds of athletes from various regencies and cities across Central Java, serving as both a talent development event and a selection pathway to the national level.
A total of 238 athletes from seven contingents took part in the competition, which featured kata and kumite categories ranging from early age, pre-beginner, beginner, cadet, junior, senior, to veteran. To ensure smooth matches, the organizing committee deployed 23 referees and judges.
Chairman of Gojukai Komda Central Java, Hendro Dewanto, stated that the championship is not only a sporting competition but also a means of building the character of the younger generation.
“This championship is not merely a sports competition, but a platform to shape character, foster sportsmanship, and strengthen unity and brotherhood among the youth from various regions,” he said.
Hendro explained that Karate-Do Gojukai teaches noble values such as discipline, perseverance, courage, and self-control — values that are highly relevant to character building for the younger generation. These principles align with the spirit of integrity, professionalism, and courage in upholding truth and justice.
He added that this year’s Central Java Gojukai Regional Championship also serves as part of the selection process for the best athletes who will compete in the National Championship (Kejurnas) Karate-Do Gojukai Indonesia – Kejaksaan Agung III Cup in Makassar at the end of July 2026.
“We hope to produce talented athletes who are not only technically superior but also mentally strong, possess good morals, and uphold high standards of sportsmanship,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Organizer of the Central Java Gojukai Karate-Do Regional Championship, Tri Adi Susanto, said the event sponsored by the Batang State Prosecutor’s Office is an important momentum for karate athlete development in Central Java.
“This championship serves as a selection event for athletes heading to the National Championship (Kejurnas) Piala Kejagung in Makassar,” he explained. This is the first time the Central Java-level championship has been held under the new Gojukai leadership with support from various parties.
The organizers hope the event will produce top athletes who can bring pride to their respective regions and to Central Java at the national level. The best athletes from this championship will undergo further selection by the Gojukai Board of Instructors before being selected to represent Central Java at the national event in Makassar.
The championship received support from various sponsors, including KEK Industropolis Batang, Bhimasena Power Indonesia Batang, PLN, Bank Jateng, PDAM, and Arsyla Farm.
Through this event, the organizers hope that karate can serve as a vehicle to develop a younger generation that is healthy, resilient, competitive, and possesses strong character to face future challenges.
