Jepara Community Collects Donations to Help Disaster Victims in NTT

Jepara Kartininews.com - The people of Jepara raised donations totaling Rp56,426,010 to help disaster victims in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The aid, gathered from various segments of the community, was dispatched from the courtyard of Pendopo R.A. Kartini Jepara on Monday (8/31/2026).

The assistance included not only food and clothing but also a range of items for mothers and children, such as diapers, milk, baby supplies, sanitary pads, and underwear.

Chairman of the Jepara Regency Red Cross (PMI), Sutedjo S. Sumarto, said that the needs of mothers and children received special attention because such supplies are often overlooked in disaster relief drives.

"Based on past experience, these needs tend to receive less attention from donors," he explained.

In addition to items for mothers and children, the aid sent also included hygiene supplies, bedding, clothing, medical necessities, and food.

Head of the Jepara Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Arwin Noor Isdiyanto, said the donations came from various segments of society, ranging from educational institutions and community organizations to community groups, institutions, and ordinary residents.

"The total donations collected reached Rp56,426,010," he said.

All the aid collected was then loaded onto a single BPBD Jepara truck, which was dispatched to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in Jakarta before being sent onward to NTT.

"The aid from Jepara was quite substantial — a full truckload," he said.

From Jakarta, the aid is planned to be shipped to NTT by sea.

Jepara Regional Secretary, Ary Bachtiar, praised the community's concern in helping out despite the disaster site being far from Jepara. He said distance was no obstacle to showing compassion for residents affected by disaster.

"This great distance will be erased by our sense of care and humanity," he said.

He added that fundraising efforts would not stop with this shipment. The next round of aid will be collected through the Jepara Regency Social Service. This round's donations came from Satkordik Jepara, the Kedung District Scout Council (Kwarran), the general public, Satkordik Tahunan, Satkordik Kembang, Satkordik Donorojo, and Satkordik Kalinyamatan.

Contributions also came from Pramuli, Zidni Pecangaan, Fatimah Bayumanis, Omah Tumpang Sari, residents of Tempur Village, Satkordik Pakisaji, the Jepara Regency Red Cross (PMI), and the Jepara Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora). In addition, PPI Jepara, Ikako Kaliombo, and Pemuda Pancasila also contributed donations for the disaster victims in NTT.
