Kartininews, Pemalang _ Briptu WR (32 years old) a police officer who served at the Pemalang Police, Central Java, was sanctioned with Dishonorable Discharge (PTDH) due to a fraud and embezzlement case using the method of recruiting Bintara Polri members.
The decision was taken after the Pemalang Police held a Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) Hearing against Briptu WR in the Tribrata Hall of the Pemalang Police, Wednesday (8/1). This hearing was led by AKBP Pranata as the Chair of the Commission, and accompanied by other hearing officials.
"The KKEP hearing issued a verdict and sanction of Dishonorable Discharge (PTDH) against Briptu WR, who was proven to have violated the Police Professional Code of Ethics," said Pemalang Police Chief AKBP Eko Sunaryo.
Eko said that his institution would not tolerate any violations committed by any of its members.
"The Pemalang Police have demonstrated their commitment to maintaining the integrity and professionalism of Polri members," said Eko.
He emphasized that the PTDH decision against Briptu WR should be a lesson for other members of the Pemalang Police so that they do not commit violations.
In 2020, Briptu WR received Rp900 million from a Pemalang resident with the initials S (54) with the promise of getting S's two children to become police officers.
However, it turned out that neither of the children were accepted as police officers. The money was obtained from the sale of S's inherited land.
WR has also been named a suspect in a fraud and embezzlement case.
The case involving Briptu WR is in the spotlight, especially because the violations committed are directly related to public trust in the Police institution. The mode of fraud and embezzlement with the promise of acceptance as a Polri Bintara member not only harms the integrity of the Police, but also takes advantage of the situation of the community who have high hopes for the future of their children.
Several important points from this case:
1. Significant Amount of Money: Rp900 million, obtained from the sale of inherited land, shows that the victim sacrificed valuable assets for this trust.
2. Ethics Enforcement: The PTDH decision by the Pemalang Police shows the institution's commitment to maintaining integrity, even though the violation was committed by its own members.
3. Deterrent Effect: The Pemalang Police Chief emphasized that this case should be a lesson for other members not to commit violations.
4. Legal Process: In addition to ethical sanctions, Briptu WR was also named a suspect in a fraud and embezzlement case, so the legal process will continue.
This case emphasizes the importance of internal supervision by the Police to prevent similar violations in the future and the need to educate the public to be more aware of fraud involving promises without a clear legal basis.**
