Coffee Prices in Pati Drop During Harvest, Farmers Hope for a Quick Rebound

PATI, Kartininews.com – Coffee prices in Pati Regency have been declining. This situation is occurring ahead of the coffee harvest season in the Muria Mountains, particularly in Pati.

One coffee farmer from Klakah Kasihan Village, Gembong District, Pati, Noor Kholis, said he has already begun harvesting coffee early, even though the main harvest is predicted to take place in two weeks.

He noted that not all coffee beans are ripe or red yet — only some have turned red, so only a portion has been harvested while the still-green beans are left on the plant.

"For this harvest, we pick the red ones and leave the green ones for now. The yield is decent — more than the previous harvest. Maybe the weather helped and pest problems have decreased," he said.

Although the current yield is reasonable, coffee prices have dropped compared to last year's main harvest season. During the 2025 harvest, dried coffee beans reached Rp 65,000 per kilogram, with some even hitting Rp 70,000 per kilogram. Heading into this year's main harvest, prices are hovering around Rp 53,000 to Rp 55,000 per kg.

"Market prices are around Rp 53,000 to Rp 55,000 per kg. That's for dried beans. The main harvest will likely happen in another two weeks," he said.

He hopes coffee prices will rise when the main harvest arrives, so that farmers can earn more income amid rising non-subsidized fertilizer costs.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Tuti (29), a coffee farmer from Gunungwungkal District, who also hopes prices will go up during the main harvest.

"Actually, in our area we already harvested earlier — about two weeks ago. Hopefully the coffee price will go up. Especially since basic food staple prices have also risen," she added.
