BUMKal Luhur Sembada Expands into Edamame and Sheep Business
SLEMAN – The Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMKal) Luhur Sembada of Sidoluhur Village is diversifying its business lines into the edamame farming and sheep livestock sectors in Godean Subdistrict, Sleman Regency, on Tuesday (11/8/2026).
This expansion step was taken to strengthen the institution’s financial structure while also supporting its waste transportation business unit.
Starting from residential waste management services since 2019, BUMKal Luhur Sembada’s waste service unit has now successfully served around 1,000 customers in the Sidoluhur area, supported by a fleet of one truck, one pickup truck, and two three-wheeled vehicles.
Sidoluhur Village Head Hernawan Zudanto has given full support to the development of this business capacity, including through the allocation of Village Funds for waste management training programs at the hamlet level.
“BUMKal must continue to grow and provide benefits for the village. This waste collection service business unit has been quite successful, and its customers now number around 1,000 residents,” said Hernawan.
To optimize revenue, BUMKal Luhur Sembada is expanding into edamame cultivation through a strategic partnership with local millennial farmers that covers seed procurement through to market certainty.
In addition, BUMKal is partnering with a third party to manage a fattening unit for 85 local sheep.
Through this diversification in agriculture, livestock, and environmental services, BUMKal Luhur Sembada has proven capable of contributing to Village Original Revenue while also driving the local economy of Sidoluhur residents.
