Hulu Sungai Utara Regent Emphasizes Women's Role in Development

Hulu Sungai Utara Kartininews.com – The Hulu Sungai Utara Regency Government (HSU) reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality and strategic role of women across various development sectors during the peak event commemorating the 147th Kartini Day.

The event, themed “The Spirit of Kartini, Inspiration Across Generations”, was held at the Dr. KH Idham Chalid Hall on Thursday (7/5/2026).

HSU Regent H. Sahrujani stated that the values of Raden Ajeng (RA) Kartini’s struggle remain relevant and must be implemented concretely by the current generation in advancing the region.

He emphasized that this spirit aligns with the “HSU Bangkit” vision, which focuses on justice, excellence, and creativity.

“This event is not merely about remembering RA Kartini as a pioneer of women’s emancipation, but also serves as a momentum for all of us to continue her struggle, especially in improving the quality of women in various aspects of life in Hulu Sungai Utara Regency,” the Regent said.

Furthermore, the Regent highlighted women’s crucial role as the first educators in the family. He specifically invited women to actively participate in the success of the “Ceria Cegah Stunting Bersama” program to improve the health quality of the next generation in HSU.

“Continue to be resilient, intelligent, and inspiring women, and carry forward Kartini’s spirit in the development of Hulu Sungai Utara Regency,” said Sahrujani.

In line with this, Head of the HSU Women’s and Children’s Protection and Empowerment Agency (DPPPA), Hermani Johan, explained that the commemoration was designed as a platform to strengthen networks among women’s organizations.

According to her, cross-regional synergy is essential to motivate the younger generation in self-development.

The event was also attended by Deputy Regent Hero Setiawan, Forkopimda ranks, and representatives of women’s organizations from neighboring regencies such as Hulu Sungai Tengah, Balangan, and Barito Timur.

The committee presented awards to the “Inspirational Women of HSU 2026” as well as winners in the best national costume category.

The event’s festivities concluded with a theatrical performance depicting RA Kartini’s life journey by GOW HSU, a fashion show of South Kalimantan traditional attire, and the distribution of door prizes to the guests.
