South Kalimantan BEM Congress Charts the Organization's Direction

Paringin Kartininews.com — The 5th Congress of the South Kalimantan Student Executive Board (BEM) Alliance was held in Balangan Regency on Saturday (8/22/2026). The forum served as a space for students to evaluate the organization, discuss the next leadership term, and determine the direction of the South Kalimantan BEM Alliance.

Sapta Mandiri University (UNIVSM) hosted the event, which took place at Mahligai Mayang Maurai in Paringin. Following the opening ceremony, participants moved on to the session agenda to discuss various matters related to the organization's continuity.

Event Chairperson Sasya Nabila said the session was the main part of the congress after the opening proceedings.

"So today's activities started with the opening, and after that we moved on to the session agenda," she said.

Muhammad Irfan Naufal, Central Coordinator of the South Kalimantan BEM Alliance, stated that the congress was not only part of the BEM Alliance's function as an agent of oversight and change, but also served as a moment for building ties and consolidation among students.

The consolidation involved BEMs from regions 1, 2, and 3, covering 13 regencies/cities across South Kalimantan.

"Alhamdulillah, we're holding today's event in Balangan Regency, with friends from BEMs across South Kalimantan coming here to consolidate for the progress of the South Kalimantan community," he said.

Balangan Regent Abdul Hadi encouraged students not only to fulfill their role as part of the intellectual community, but also to actively serve as agents of change.

"We are not just part of society's intellectuals, but we are also agents of change to bring Indonesia, our region, our regency toward a better direction in life," he said.

The 5th South Kalimantan BEM Alliance Congress is expected to produce decisions that strengthen the leadership while clarifying the organization's direction in contributing to the community and the region.
