Lumajang Regency Government Accelerates Installation of CCTV and Public Street Lighting
Lumajang kartininews.com — The Lumajang Regency Government (Pemkab Lumajang) is speeding up the installation of surveillance cameras (CCTV) and public street lighting (PJU) across all hamlets (dusun) as part of strengthening a technology-based security system and village governance.
The program is targeted for completion in June 2026 and serves as a strategic step in building a more integrated community protection system down to the hamlet level.
Lumajang Regent, Indah Amperawati, emphasized that Village Funds (Dana Dusun) must be properly directed to support environmental security systems, including the installation of CCTV and PJU, strengthening community security systems (siskamling), and providing operational support for community protection (linmas).
“This program must be fully completed and deliver real benefits. Village funds must be allocated to systematically strengthen environmental security,” Indah said in Sukodono District, Lumajang Regency, East Java Province, on Tuesday night (19/5/2026).
She stated that the progress of CCTV and PJU installation in Sukodono District has currently reached around 80 percent and is targeted for full completion by mid-June 2026.
According to her, a technology-based security system allows for faster, more measurable, and interconnected area monitoring between points. With this system, early detection of potential security disturbances can be carried out more effectively compared to conventional approaches.
In addition, this security model also positions villages as active participants in maintaining the environment. Village governments, security officers, and communities are expected to be interconnected within a single regional security system.
Lumajang Police Chief, AKBP Alex Sandi Siregar, who accompanied the inspection, said that the integration of CCTV and PJU will strengthen situational awareness mapping in rural areas.
“The integration of CCTV and PJU can improve the effectiveness of preventive measures against public order and security disturbances (kamtibmas),” he said.
