West Kalimantan Pushed to Become a Cross-Border Tourism and Creative Economy Gateway

Pontianak Kartininews.com – West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan used the COV12 Borneo 3 Nation event, attended by the VOID Indonesia group at the Governor’s Pendopo on Saturday (9/5/2026), as a momentum to strengthen the promotion of West Kalimantan’s tourism, culture, and creative economy along the cross-border route.

The international touring activity was considered strategic for expanding regional connectivity while introducing the province’s potential to people in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam through community and automotive tourism approaches.

Approximately 100 participants from the VOID Indonesia chapter will take part in a series of activities over the coming days. The event serves as a momentum to strengthen inter-regional connectivity and promote the area’s potential at an international level.

In her speech, Governor Ria Norsan shared a legendary story tied to West Kalimantan’s identity. It is said that anyone who comes and drinks the water of the Kapuas River will always feel a longing to return to the Equator Land.

She also extended a warm welcome to all participants and expressed hope that they would feel comfortable while exploring West Kalimantan.

“In particular, I pray that the entire journey will always be granted protection, safety, and smoothness by God Almighty,” said Ria Norsan.

According to her, the motorcycle touring activity carried out by VOID Indonesia is not just a hobby activity, but also a creative platform to strengthen relations between countries. This is considered strategic given West Kalimantan’s geographical position, which shares direct land borders with neighboring countries.

Through this cross-border journey, it is hoped that even more harmonious relations will be established between regions in Indonesia and neighboring countries, especially Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.

The Governor is also optimistic that international-scale activities like this will create a multiplier effect on the region’s economic growth. Sectors expected to benefit positively include tourism, MSMEs, and the creative economy.

“Besides economic support, we also entrust a message of nationalism,” she said.

Before concluding her speech, Ria Norsan urged all riders to prioritize politeness and maintain good behavior as the hallmark of the Indonesian nation, which is known for its friendliness on the international stage.

The participants were also reminded to uphold Indonesia’s image while traveling through Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.

“Maintain togetherness throughout the journey because solidarity is the key to the success of an organization. Moreover, this activity carries the mission of introducing Indonesian tourism and culture along every route it passes,” she concluded.

Through this journey, it is hoped that the Indonesian riders will not only channel their hobby but also serve as national ambassadors who strengthen relations between regions and countries.
