OJK Solo Warns Public About Job Offer Scam Leading to Fake Investments
Solo Kartininews.com - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) Solo is urging job seekers in the Solo Raya region to be wary of job offers that promise high income in a short time. This scam is often disguised as recruitment, but ultimately leads to illegal or fraudulent investment schemes.
This warning was issued by OJK Solo following numerous reports from people receiving job offers via text messages or social media. Perpetrators typically ask victims to transfer money under the pretext of administrative fees, training costs, or initial investment deposits.
Modus Operandi: Big Salary Promises, But Pay Upfront First
“People are advised to always be cautious of job offers that ask for money upfront. This has become a hallmark of scams,” OJK Solo stated in its official release.
Perpetrators usually offer attractive positions such as administrative staff, customer service, or marketing, with above-average salaries. Once the victim is interested, they are directed to purchase an investment package or certain products as a condition of employment.
Victims Asked to Transfer Money to Personal Accounts
OJK Solo emphasizes that legitimate companies do not charge any fees during the recruitment process. Additionally, payments directed to personal bank accounts — rather than company accounts — are a major red flag.
Once the money is transferred, victims usually find it difficult to contact the perpetrators. Phone numbers become inactive and social media accounts disappear.
Preventive Steps: Check Company Legitimacy
OJK Solo urges the public to always verify the legality of companies offering jobs. Information can be checked through the official websites of the Ministry of Manpower or OJK.
“Don’t be easily fooled by offers that sound too good to be true. Always cross-check the company’s data and make sure no upfront fees are required,” OJK stressed.
Anyone who encounters suspicious offers or has fallen victim to such scams is encouraged to immediately report to the nearest police station or contact OJK’s consumer service at 157.
